Afasic turned 55 this July and due to train strikes we had to reschedule our booked Celebration to September.
We had a small reception for our trustees, staff , vice presidents and key supporters at the Astronomer public house near Liverpool Street in the Hubble room. It was an opportunity to catch up with them and have some birthday cake expertly made by Susan from Darlows delights. Our new chairman Jon Emin welcomed everyone and then we were very pleased to welcome two of our young ambassadors,  Dr Terry Chimes D.C. our newest Vice president did the honours and presented both Ed and Amelia with their Young Ambassador packs.

Our CEO Linda Lascelles then took the stage to thank all those present and to present our head of services Mark Thompson with a special medal and trophy for his amazing efforts earlier this year when he ran seven marathons in seven days! Mark raised over £10,000 pounds and it was a fitting occasion to make a fuss of his huge achievement.

We had a speech from Damien a Vice President who has DLD, he said “What a very special family the Afasic charity was”.

Our previous CEO Norma Corkish then toasted Afasic and cut the birthday cake with Amelia.

It was a wonderful evening and thank you to all who came.
