Running Events
Please support Afasic by taking part in a running event – anything from a gentle jog to a full marathon or beyond! There are many options available across the UK and there is something for all levels. It’s a great way to get fit and raise some much-needed funding for Afasic, which will give you some extra motivation to keep going. Some ideas are below, or you can do your own thing!
London Marathon
A very big thank you to all our 2025 Marathon runners – Ben, Darren, David, Millie, Patrick, and Stefan, as well as Adam and Matt who ran the Manchester Marathon, who all reached the finish line despite the heat and together have raised over £12,000, which is an amazing total for which we are very grateful.
Each year Afasic has a small number of Guaranteed places for the London marathon and if you are interested in running the London Marathon for Afasic in 2026 then please contact Mark Thompson for more details and a registration form.
Brighton Marathon
This is one of the UK’s favourite marathons (second only to London in size), with a buzzing atmosphere, roaring crowd, finishing on the Brighton seafront. It also features a mini mile race and 10km so the whole family can get involved. Find out more from their website.
Big Fun Run
This is a series of 5k fun runs that are taking place across the UK between July and October. To find an event near you and to enter go to the Big Fun Run website.
Great Run Series
For something a bit more challenging, the Great Run series has events from 10k up to half marathon that take place in a range of locations during the year. To find one that suits you and to enter go to the Great Run website. Please note that some events (like the Great North Run) are very popular so it pays to enter early.
Whatever you decide to do, get in touch with us and we will support you as much as possible. We can provide sponsor forms, information about Afasic, stickers, training and fundraising advice and tips, and a running top or t-shirt. Please run for Afasic, your support really can make a difference.
