Gift Aid Your Donation
Charities can claim ‘Gift Aid’ on your donations meaning that 25% more money can be raised, at no additional cost to our donors. For example, if you donated £100 to Afasic, we would receive £125.
Do I qualify?
If you are a UK taxpayer, yes. Even if you are not employed, you are still eligible if you are paying sufficient income tax or capital gains tax to cover the amount being claimed.
How does it work?
As soon as you give your permission, we can claim the tax back on your donation. You provide your permission by completing our Gift Aid declaration form, which can be downloaded below, and sending it to us in the office.
What if I pay a higher rate of tax?
If you pay tax at a rate of 40% or above, you can claim the difference between the higher and basic rate on your donation. Do this:
- Through your Self-Assessment tax return
- By asking HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to amend your tax code.
Please complete and return a gift aid form, it really can make a big difference and at no cost to you.
