The Afasic Christmas Concert 2023
Afasic held a very special Christmas Concert on 7th December, celebrating our 55th Anniversary and helping all those attending to get into the festive spirit early.
We were delighted that our Patron, HRH The Duchess of Gloucester was able to join us once more, and was presented with some flowers by our young ambassador Ameila.
At short notice, our newest Vice President, Dr Terry Chimes, read an excerpt from ‘A Christmas Carol’ and, not to be outdone, two pupils from Moor House School & College, Freya Harrison and Sidney Parker did a great job with their readings.
Music for the evening was provided by the Ashtead Singers, conducted by Dr Andrew Storey, along with the brilliant Mark Inscoe, who performed 2 songs accompanied by Danny Edwards on piano.
We were also very pleased to have the signing choir from Moor House School & College taking part and they were great, as always! And our thanks also goes to the organist for the evening John Carnelley.
The evening was led by three adults who benefited from the work of Afasic when they were younger, Damian Quinn, Kelly White, and Robyn Lascelles – and what a brilliant job they did! There was lots of laughter and applause throughout the night with tremendous performances by everyone involved.
We are very grateful to all the team at St Andrew for hosting our concert once more, all our volunteers on the night and especially our volunteer photographer Greg Keeling. Everyone seemed to have a very enjoyable time and contributed generously to the retiring collection that was done by our young ambassadors Brielle, Ed, and Amelia.
Here’s to the next one on Thursday 11th December 2025!
